Long Melford is one of Suffolk's most distinctive villages, with an exceptionally long high street lined by timber-framed and Georgian properties that are beautiful to look at but notoriously difficult to wire and network.
Older Long Melford properties typically have lath-and-plaster internal walls, uneven floor levels and limited ceiling voids, which makes running network cable a job that needs care and experience to keep disruption minimal and finishes neat. The thick external walls of many period houses here mean that a router placed in one room will barely reach the next. A properly planned cabled installation with discreet access points is the right approach for these buildings.
The village also has a number of barn conversions and larger detached homes on its outskirts, where open-plan layouts and large floor areas make a mesh system worth considering. We are based in Bury St Edmunds, a short drive away, and are familiar with the type of work involved in older Suffolk properties.
Written down on the quote, so nothing on this list turns up later as a surprise.
